You can use presono from practically any device at any time and the differences between the various apps are explained below. By the way, you can always download the latest version of every app from our website. Please remember to update all apps regularly.

What are the apps for?

The biggest difference is that the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone) were developed for presenting, while the desktop apps (Windows & Mac) were developed for presenting and working/creating. This is why the mobile apps are also called “presono Viewer”, as they are only used for showing and presenting.

In the mobile version, for example, no slides or presentations can be created or edited, templates are not visible and media cannot be uploaded.

Synchronization/present offline/update content

Another difference is the Download of Presentations for offline usage:

With the desktop app (Windows & Mac), synchronization happens automatically in the background as long as the app is open and you are online. The first synchronization also starts automatically directly after the first login.

With the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone), individual presentations must be downloaded manually. This is primarily due to the fact that the storage space on a tablet or smartphone is usually much smaller than on a laptop. Once a presentation has been downloaded, it must also be updated manually - a corresponding message appears directly on the dashboard after reopening the app, whenever there are updates available for your downloaded presentations. As soon as a presentation has been downloaded for offline use, only the offline version will be started.

Attention! For iOS devices (iPhone, iPad), the app must be open and running in the foreground during synchronization. On Android devices, the download can be carried out in the background.

Enter Menu

There is currently no Enter menu in the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone), as there is in the desktop apps (Windows/Mac).

Ending a presentation

In the desktop apps (Windows/Mac), you can end your presentation using the keyboard by either pressing the ESC key or clicking on “End presentation” in the Enter menu (press Enter) at the top right. If you are using the desktop app on a touch screen and do not have a keyboard to hand, you can tap on the left or right edge of the screen to open the Enter menu and end the presentation from there. You can set whether left or right in the settings for your user.

In the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone), a presentation is ended by performing a pinch gesture, i.e. bringing two fingers together on the display.

Company domains

If you use a company domain, for example company.presono.com, instead of my.presono.com, then this domain must be changed before the first login.

For the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone), this change must always be done manually just before the first login.

With the Windows desktop app, this change can be made automatically beforehand via the installation file (installation via MSI package). For Mac desktop apps, the switch must also be made manually.

On trade fairs

Of course, all apps can be used at trade fairs, they all allow offline presentations and all of them have the kiosk mode, including PIN code and other settings.

With the desktop apps (Windows/Mac), however, there are a few more advantages. For example, some processes can be automated here. For example, a config file can be used to automatically update the content when the app is started and a specific presentation can also be started fully automatically. The apps can also be set to autostart so that the device only needs to be started at the end and then presono is automatically opened, updated, set to offline mode and a presentation is started.

With the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone), the start of the app and the presentation as well as the update of contents must always be carried out manually.

Language settings

There are also no language settings in the settings for the mobile apps (Android & iOS or iPad/iPhone). These are automatically adopted from the browser or the desktop app, as this setting is the same for your user on all devices. So if you change your preferred language for content in the browser from German to English, this setting will also apply to your mobile apps.
