Saving the Media Journey
Use your Media Journey in a Slide
Media Journeys are a new content module in presono. Based on several provided Templates, your images and videos (also possible in combination with texts) can be combined to an animated sequence with just a few clicks and backed with music. This can then be used as a content element in presono Slides, just like images or videos.
What is a Media Journey?
A Media Journey is basically a compilation of different media files into an animated sequence. This can then be inserted as a content element in a Slide and thus be used in a Presentation. Media Journeys are based on Templates which are provided in presono and they are created and edited in a special editor directly in presono. So you can choose a Template, fill it with images, videos and texts, add music to it and then save and use it.
Here are some ideas for using a Media Journey:
This can be used to create background animations for Slides, for example, if no video is available for a given topic. But you can also create product videos by combining images, renderings, scribbles and video sequences, for example. Or you can combine video sequences and images from a single event into a Media Journey to create an animated sequence of the event. So you don't need to use a video editing tool or similar to showcase your media.
Upload audio
Before you start your Media Journey, you should upload one or more audio files, so you can add them to your Media Journey!
To do this, go to the Content Structure and click on the "New" button in the upper right corner and select "Upload new Element". Now you can upload your MP3-Files.
If the Media Journey module is available, you will now also find Media Journeys and Audio in the media filters in the Content Structure.
Creating a Media Journey
A Media Journey can be created directly in presono. To do so, click on the "New" button in the upper right corner of the Content Structure and select "Create new Media Journey".
Choose a Template
First, choose a style for your Journey from the existing Templates in presono.
Now you can either create a single chapter in your Journey (1), or click on "Add chapters from media" (2). Then you can select multiple media and automatically create a Journey. Of course, you can still customize this later.
1. Create single chapter
To create a first chapter, choose one of the Templates. If you hover your mouse over the thumbnails, you will also get a preview of the animation.
Now the chapter is created and you can edit the content and design elements of the Template. You can find more about the editing options further down in the article.
2. Create chapters from media
Alternatively, you can select multiple images and videos and presono will automatically create a Journey for you. Instead of creating a single chapter, click on "Add chapters from media" in the lower left corner.
The Content Structure will open, where you can select multiple images and videos. You can also use the search and filter functions. If you click on "Insert", several chapters will be created containing your selected media in a random order.
Now you can start to edit the individual chapters!
Editing the chapters
In the top right corner of the editor you will find buttons to undo or redo your last steps (1). You will also find the meta data (2) of the Media Journey and the Preview (3), which will play your Media Journey. On the far right you will also find the Save button (4).
If you hover over the individual thumbnails of the chapters on the left or leave your mouse over them, the preview is also triggered and your Media Journey chapter is played - so you can see the animations. This also works for the large preview image on the right!
On the left above the preview images of the individual chapters you will find the option to delete (1) and duplicate (2) individual chapters. In addition, you can always add a new chapter (3) and generate new chapters from media (4).
By the way, you can still adjust the order of your chapters via drag-and-drop!
Edit default values
At the top you can change the default values for the entire Journey. These will then be applied to the entire Journey. Under "Chapter Content" you will find the contents of the currently selected chapter.
In the default values you can edit the following values:
- The different colors that were defined in the Template. Depending on the Template, the number may vary here.
- The font in all chapters
- Special values depending on the template - in the selected example you can set the angle of the recurring slope here.
- With all options you always have the possibility to apply the new value to all or to reset the respective value to the default setting. The standard colors, sizes or fonts are adjusted as soon as you change the values here. However, as soon as you click on "Apply to all", the values that you have previously customized will also be overwritten with the standard values.
Edit contents of the chapter
Depending on which chapter you select on the left, you can then edit the contents of the chapter. All elements contained in the chapter are displayed individually at the top. By clicking on the individual elements, you can then replace or edit them.
The following elements can be edited:
(Note: the number of elements per type varies depending on the selected chapter template).
1. Exchange pictures/videos
To exchange an image or video, click on the corresponding element. The Content Structure opens as usual and you can use all filters as well as the search to find a suitable image for the Journey. Insert the image with a double click.
2. Edit texts
To edit a text, click on the corresponding chapter and select one of the text buttons above. Here you can now:
- overwrite/replace your text
- choose your own font for this area
- reset the font to the default value, if you have selected a different font in (2).
3. Edit colors
To edit a color, click on the corresponding chapter and choose one of the color buttons above. Here you can now:
- select any color,
- select one of the existing template colors or
- reset the selected color to the default color.
4. Edit slope angle
In the Template with the slopes you can also set the angle of the slopes. To edit this, click on the corresponding chapter and select one of the slope angle buttons at the top. Now you can:
- adjust the slope angle or
- reset to the default value.
Add audio
At the end (or of course at the beginning) you can add an audio track. This is used, for example, to determine the length of your Media Journey. presono recognizes the rhythm of the audio title and adjusts the animation of the individual chapters accordingly!
To add an audio track click on "Select audio track" in the upper left corner. Please note that the audio track you want to select has to be uploaded in advance.
To get an audio sample, you can click on the small play icon directly in the dropdown here. Then choose one of the audio tracks by clicking it and now you can preview your Media Journey including music with the preview button!
Saving the Media Journey
When you are done, you can save your Media Journey. Click on the Save icon in the upper right corner, give it a Title and then choose a Workspace and at least one Category.
Click "Save" at the end.
Use your Media Journey in a Slide
Once you have saved your Media Journey, you can use it in a Slide.
Make sure that the content type "Media Journey" is allowed in the Layout.
To insert a Media Journey, click on the section and then on the Media Journey icon.
Then select a Media Journey and insert it - either by double-clicking on it or by using the "Insert" button in the upper right corner.
Now the following options are available for your Journey:
- select a different Media Journey,
- loop the Media Journey, or
- play/use the Media Journey without sound.
As soon as your Slide is shown/opened in the Presentation, your Media Journey is automatically started and played with (or without) sound! So now you have created your very own animated sequence, which you can include as an eye catcher in your next Presentation!
