In this article, you’ll find out what Kiosk Mode is and how you can use it!
What is our Kiosk mode?
The Kiosk Mode offers you a wide range of options for your presentation and, ultimately, ensures that any presentation you start on the device from now on runs in a ‘loop’. This feature forms the basis for many other settings that it enables – such as autoplaying a presentation, or automatically updating content, starting a presentation, or activating offline mode. But more on that in the following article.
presono as a plug-and-play solution
Kiosk Mode is a presentation mode specifically designed for use at trade fairs and in sales. It offers numerous features such as autoplay, automatic reset after inactivity, PIN codes and other practical settings that are particularly necessary for unattended usage scenarios. Kiosk Mode is just one part of a more comprehensive concept: additional features such as the automatic start and update of presentations enable content to be delivered without manual intervention. Together, this creates a flexible plug-and-play solution that is ideal for use at trade fairs, in showrooms or other presentation environments.
Typical applications
Kiosk mode is used across a range of industries, particularly in:
-
Sales & Marketing
Presentation of products, services and corporate content -
Industry & B2B
Complex content is presented in a visually engaging and interactive way -
Events & Trade Fairs
Digital information points to engage visitors -
Public Sector & Education
Information systems for visitors or self-guided learning resources
An example:
A typical example from everyday life illustrates just how versatile Kiosk Mode is – particularly when combined with other settings – at trade fairs:
Presentations are prepared in advance, and the devices are set up and configured several weeks before the trade fair. This involves installing the app and configuring all the necessary content and individual settings for each device. Thanks to a stable internet connection during the preparation phase, all data is synchronised in full; during the trade fair, however, the entire solution runs offline.
Shortly before the trade fair, the devices are restarted, ensuring that only the content that has changed in the meantime is updated – quickly and efficiently.
On site, the devices simply need to be switched on: the presono application starts automatically, updates the contents automatically if an internet connection is available, and then switches to offline mode. The preset presentation starts immediately and is protected against unauthorised access by features such as PIN code protection and automatic reset.
Over the course of several days at the trade fair, automatic updates – for example, when the app is launched or at defined times – ensure that all content remains up to date.
After the trade fair, usage data can also be analysed to gain valuable insights into visitor behaviour.
Another example would be to configure the devices so that, when inactive, they automatically play content that can be paused by user interaction. As soon as the screen is left unattended again, the autoplay presentation starts up automatically again. This interaction makes the system a true plug-and-play solution offering a high degree of flexibility and a wide range of applications.
How do I enable Kiosk Mode?
Kiosk mode is a presentation mode designed specifically for use at trade fairs or sales events. It is a setting that must be configured individually for each device. It allows presentations to run continuously in a loop and offers additional features for specific events such as trade fairs.
Kiosk mode must first be activated in the top right-hand corner, after which the relevant settings will appear. Here you can select a wide range of options, from automatic reset to autoplay, PIN code and various other settings.
