In this article, you'll find a brief guide on how to set up presono as a plug-and-play solution for your trade show or event.
Overview
To use presono at your trade show, event, or in a showroom, you'll need:
- a (mini PC)
- an output device (touchscreen)
(can be scaled up as needed)
the presono app is installed on the mini PC; you log in with a Presenter user account and sync the data. Here you’ll find the minimum requirements for our desktop app—please ensure sufficient performance based on your specific use case (runtime, size of the display device, amount of data, etc.).
A stable internet connection is required for setup; for use (presentations) at trade shows or similar events, the app’s offline mode is typically used.
Important note: Please don’t forget to sync the device after using it at the trade show! This is a necessary step to retrieve all offline data regarding which content was displayed and how often!
All settings for the presentation are configured directly on the device in our app’s settings (PIN code, reset time, etc.).
There are also various settings on the PC itself that we recommend, but which are outside the scope of presono. However, they are essential for a seamless and great user experience at the trade show. More on this below.
Step1: Settings on your device
We recommend the following settings on your trade show PC to ensure the best possible user experience at the trade show. These settings are not directly related to presono and must be configured directly on the device.
- presono should be added to the autostart programmes.
- Windows Updates should ideally also be deactivated so no interruptions occur.
- The windows user must be logged in automatically (without password request)
- If there is a need for remote access, TeamViewer or a comparable program must be installed and set up on the devices. It is recommended to maintain/create a list of the devices, the corresponding presentations and notes about the settings, including the TeamViewer ID and the respective password.
- Optionally, the device can be configured to start up automatically when it is connected to the power supply.
- Disable Windows Swipe gestures (so you can't close the app via Task Manager).
Note: for Win11 there are additional settings that need to be done: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touch > Three- and four-finger touch gestures: Disable it
We also recommend planning for a wireless keyboard with a trackpad when using touchscreens for setup and maintenance.
Step 2: Installation
First, please install the latest version of the app on the measuring device. You can find the link on our website: https://presono.com/apps
If you reuse the device, please remember to update the app regularly. You can access and install updates directly in the app via the Update Center (bottom left), or you can download the latest .exe file from our website and install it over the current version (all data will be preserved).
Step 3: Login
Please log in using the credentials of a Presenter user. You can find all the details here: How can I invite more users?
Please note that if you're using a company-owned domain (mycompany.presono.com instead of my.presono.com), you'll need to change it once—right on the login screen—before logging in.
For trade fairs or similar events, it is advisable to create a separate user for each device that is to be recorded. In this way, the analytics can later be related precisely to this user. In addition, the amount of data to be synchronised can be limited (by assigning rights). One user cannot be used on more than 5 devices at the same time.
Step 4: Synchronisation
After logging in, data synchronization starts automatically in the background. You can always check the status in the cloud icon in the upper-right corner.
Please make sure the initial synchronization can run uninterrupted (stable internet connection; do not close the app).
Once it's finished, a checkmark will appear in the cloud icon:
Step 5: Settings in presono
As soon as the first synchronization is complete (!), we'll go to the settings.
Important: All settings are saved directly on the device and not for the user.
Language Settings
Please select the user interface language here and the language in which the presentation should start (you can, of course, still change the language using interactive language selection buttons, for example).
Kiosk Modus Settings
In the Kiosk Mode settings, you'll find everything you need to know about automatically starting the presentation, automatic synchronization, PIN codes, and more.
For trade fair use case, we recommend the following settings:
- Presentation Tab:
- Animation: “Fade”
- Please adjust the enter menu position based on the content
- Kiosk Mode Tab:
- Start presentation automatically - please select your trade show presentation here
- Automatic synchronization - updates your content every time the app starts
- Force Offline Mode—this ensures the presentation always runs offline, so you don’t have to manually switch to offline mode
- Kiosk Mode: (please enable)
- Automatically reset the presentation
- Optional: Autoplay the presentation (if slides are to run in a continuous loop until the trade show visitor “pauses” it)
- Disable Swipe
- PIN Code
- Device Configuration tab:
- Credentials —enter your password here to ensure your login remains valid (when using the app for an extended period or when multiple devices share the same user account).
If the device is connected to a continuous power source and is in continuous use for several days, you can also set up automatic synchronization at specified times (Advanced tab).
You can find all the details about the settings and other options here: Kiosk & Presentation
Step 6: testing
Once all settings are configured, please close your app and test your settings.
Ideally, test them in a situation as close to real life as possible—restart the device and also check, for example, whether presono is set to start automatically, whether touch gestures are disabled, and whether the time for resetting the presentation is set appropriately (in presono).
End Presentation
To end your presentation, tap the left or right edge of your screen (depending on your settings). You can then end the presentation from the Enter menu in the upper-right corner.
(Depending on the width of the screen, this setting may be hidden in the three-dot menu)
