New Template Sets with Custom Aspect Ratio
Slides in presono can now be created not only in 16:9 format, but in many different formats! This way, presentations do not only look perfect on landscape format devices, but also on portrait format screens (e.g. at trade shows) or on iPads. The format is defined in the template set and all slides that result from it will then follow this format. You can either choose one of the default formats or even enter a completely custom format!
If you are interested in this feature, please contact us at info@presono.com or get directly in touch with your contact person at our company regarding the activation!
Why individual aspect ratios?
This new feature is particularly exciting for trade fairs, events or special screens or devices. At trade fairs, for example, screens are sometimes used in portrait format or tablets that do not have an aspect ratio of 16:9. To avoid unsightly black bars or cumbersome content maintenance, you can now easily change your templates in presono.
What should be considered?
The aspect ratios are set in Template Sets. All Templates in this set will then follow this aspect ratio. Of course you can simply create a new set and set your own aspect ratio or you can edit an existing set. But you have to keep in mind that you might have to check all slides once, using this specific Set. Therefore we recommend to create a new set or duplicate an existing one and edit it. This way no slides are based on your templates and you don't have to check anything!
If you have set an individual aspect ratio for a Template Set, you will also see this in the Content Structure and Template Set.
New Template Sets with Custom Aspect Ratio
To create a new set with custom aspect ratio, click "New" on the content and select "Create new Template Set".
Choose your title, a workspace and your categories. But before you click save, you can make the aspect ratio settings below.
You have the following options:
- Here you can simply select one of the standard formats. There are 7 different common formats to choose from.
- If you click on "Aspect ratio details", the lower section appears. There you can enter your ratio manually. You can enter the width (W) as well as the height (H) and also the base size for the width (W). The fourth value (grayed out here) is calculated automatically from the first three values.
If you don't know the exact ratio, you can also enter it with values. If you click on the pencil, you can enter your exact dimensions using pixel values for the height (H) and width (W).
Confirm your input with the checkmark or discard at the X.
Once you have set the aspect ratio, click "Save".
All templates you create in this set will now have an aspect ratio of 2:1 and so will all slides using these templates.
Modify existing template sets
Of course, you can also change the aspect ratio of a Template Set not only when creating it. However, we recommend to duplicate the entire template set beforehand and create a new version instead of changing an existing one. Depending on how much you change the ratio, you may have to check all slides to see if the content still fits.
To change the aspect ratio of an existing template set, open a template set and click on the pencil at the top of the title.
Again, you have the aspect ratio options at the bottom.

All templates in the set (and thus all slides that use the set, if any) will now be changed. The thumbnails may take a few minutes.
All your templates will now be converted. The sections will remain, but will also be converted.

If you change the aspect ratio quiet radically (e.g. from landscape to portrait), you may have to rework some sections or the design of your slide (e.g. the layout). Here is an example:
