In this article you will find all the details and options for setting links in presono!
How to link?
You can link various sections in your slides/overlays to other slides, overlays or entire presentations (as far as the template allows). Links can generally be placed on text sections, text parts, images or in media galleries.
Tip: Always make sure that your links are recognizable as such! No matter what you link to, it should always be clear to the users of your presentation which elements they can click on and what happens when they click on them! To do this, use icons, hover styles, style your text areas as buttons or mark the text in some other way so that it is clear that this element is clickable.
If you have set a link, the details will appear at the bottom:
For example, if you have linked a specific content (Slide, presentation, overlay), you can see which content is linked by clicking on the arrow on the right.
You will see the type of link (1), a preview image of the content (2), the title (3) and the ID (4).
Various types of links
You can set the following links to sections with images, texts or media galleries:
1. link to the first slide of the current presentation
This link takes you to the very first slide of the current presentation, regardless of which presentation this slide is used in.
There is an additional option here to prevent leaving the inserted presentation. Please note that there should always still be a way to leave the inserted presentation anyway (a home button without this option or similar).
2. link to the next/previous slide
This option is suitable, for example, for linear presentations that are to be operated without a keyboard or swipe gestures. This allows you to navigate linearly through the presentation, just like using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
There is an additional option here to prevent leaving the inserted presentation.
Please note that there should still be a way to exit the inserted presentation anyway (a home button or similar). In addition, attention should be paid to a self-explanatory or intuitive design - the user of the presentation must understand that he is currently moving in an (probably inserted) presentation and why nothing happens with a Next/Back at the first/last position of the presentation.
3. link to a specific position in a presentation
This can be used, for example, to link to the third slide of the current presentation.
There is an additional option here to prevent leaving the inserted presentation. If this option is active, the link leads to the third slide of the inserted presentation (if it has been inserted into the presentation via a link or the Enter menu). If the option is not active, the link leads to the third slide of the originally started presentation.
4. link to a slide, an overlay or a presentation
Here you can link to specific content. You can either link a slide, an overlay or an entire presentation.
Linked slides
You no longer have to insert linked slides separately into your presentation. As soon as you click on an section with a link to a slide, it is automatically inserted and is therefore included in the session. Your original presentation will not be changed.
There are two different types of slide links:
1. insert the slide at the current position
2. navigate/switch to the linked slide
With the first option, you remain at the current position in your presentation and your slide is inserted here. In essence, a second presentation layer/level is created.
As soon as you leave the inserted slide again (by moving forwards or backwards), it is removed again and you move back to your original presentation:
In your session, however, the Slide will of course still be included. You can also link another Slide/Presentation from this Slide and thus create a third, fourth,... layer. As soon as you go back, the respective Slides/Layer will be removed.
With option two, you jump to the point in the Presentation where the Slide is already located. If it is not yet included, everything behaves as with the first option.
Linked overlays
Linked overlays are not inserted directly into a presentation; they are opened by clicking on the corresponding area, but only if neccessary. They open up on top of your Slide and can be closed again (usually by using an x button) - just like a pop up on a website! Find more about it here: Create & link overlays
Overlays opened during the presentation are also inserted into the session.
presono's Tip:
An overlay can also contain links to other slides. You can use this to create a menu that allows you to switch between all points of your presentation at any time.
presono's Tip:
You can also link a Slide as an overlay. To do this, click on the link symbol and then on the overlay symbol. In addition to overlays, you can now also select slides that are automatically provided with a close button. You can find out more here: Create & link overlays
Linked presentations
If you link a presentation, the entire presentation is inserted at the current position. A new "layer" is also created here, which is removed from the current "playlist" when you leave it (by moving forwards or backwards) - it is of course still included in the session.
presono's Tip:
use the shortcut "Strg+➔" (Win) or "Alt +➔" (Mac) to jump to the first or last position of your current presentation (also works for inserted presentations).
5. link to a language
You can also link an image, text or element in a gallery to a language. This allows you to create an interactive language switch! Of course, you can do this directly in the Slide, but you can also create a language switch in your background template and link it - so you have the language switch directly with you in every Slide you create with this background!
6. link to an external website
This allows you to create a link to external websites (outside of presono). All possible web links can be inserted here - if the link is clicked on during the presentation, the browser opens with the corresponding page. The presentation in presono is paused in the meantime and can then be resumed.
However, these links can be specifically prevented for trade fairs or similar via the kiosk mode. More about this here: What is the kiosk mode?
Tip: you can even insert a mailto:example@presono.com link here.
7. remove the link from this section
This removes all links from the currently selected section.
