In presono, presentations can not only be presented in a linear way, but also interactively - similar to an app or website. Everything you need for this can be found directly in presono!
For interactive presentations, it is particularly important to think carefully about the structure of the presentation in advance. Therefore, you should first focus on the structure before starting with the implementation in presono. In this article, we will show you exactly what you need to consider during preparation and implementation.
Preparation - structuring content
Preparation is about structuring your content and deciding on the navigation for your presentation.
1. Navigation
The basic navigation of the presentation is the first step in structuring the content. The first important step for your presentation is the selection of a navigation concept. By navigation during the presentation, we mean the way in which the presentation is to be operated. You can find out more about this topic here: Various presentations in presono
Basically, there are 3 types of presentations:
1. linear presentations
2. interactive presentations
3. hybrid presentations (basically linear presentations, but which offer certain interaction options, such as menus or overlays for more in-depth information)
All of these presentations can be implemented with presono. It is important to decide on a navigation concept before you start implementing the presentation, as the chosen concept must be taken into account later, especially in the implementation and design. In interactive presentations, for example, the design must ensure that the user recognizes which elements are clickable and which are not. The navigation itself must also be designed to be transparent and self-explanatory for the user.
2. Structuring content
Depending on the type selected, the topics and content should now be arranged in an order/sequence. To do this, it is essential to collect the content in advance. All existing material (presentations, texts, images, videos, websites) should be compiled, from which the topics can then be created.
You can use a tool of your choice to visualize or write down the structure. We recommend working with a kind of mind map - for example in the form of a structure tree.
The topic blocks/clusters should be developed first. These are then further expanded and defined to create the individual Slides. Once the areas have been defined, the navigation needs to be clarified. Once the structure has been created, the implementation or design can begin.
3. Design
Then define the most important elements in any graphic program (if available) or use an existing template. However, the final layout per slide does not have to be determined yet. First and foremost, the positioning of logos, fonts (font sizes) and graphic elements, the choice of colors, images or icons should be defined. This creates a graphic baseline that can be accessed again and again later in the templating.
Examples of navigation elements can be menus (as an overlay or footer), back buttons, home buttons, buttons for overlays or icons that indicate interaction options.
Implementation
1. Creating Templates
If there are no templates for your interactive presentation yet, this is the first step. Create backgrounds and layouts and don't forget about the demo content - this will allow you to prepare your templates perfectly. For example, you can already set and link fixed menus or language switches in the background.
For creating your Templates, use the collected Contents and combine them with your structure. Pick an example for each Slide and create the Tempalte accordingly (using the dummy contents).
2. creating Slides
The next step is to take your layouts and create your slides. We recommend proceeding in groups - basically, you can follow the structure tree downwards and create all slides.
3. linking
Once all slides and overlays have been created in a branch, you can link them. Basically, you can now go back to the top to ensure you do not overlook any contents.
Tip: put all your slides in one presentation and edit them right there! At the end you can take them out again, but this way you don't have to switch between slides!
Afterwards you can move on to the next branch and create the slides/overlays and then link everything again.
When linking, don't forget about any menu overlays or the back buttons.
4. creating the presentation
Finally, you can create your presentation. For interactive presentations, it is usually enough to only insert your start slide (screen saver) or no more than your start slide (screen saver) and your main menu (depending on how the link is set on the screen saver and whether or not you even have a screensaver). If you don't want a screen saver, you can of course place your main menu directly on the start slide!
